Electrothermal
We explore new materials for waste heat recovery, electrocaloric and pyroelectric sources for electrothermal energy interconversion. It is a viable means for primary and auxiliary solid-state cooling and power generation (in collaboration with ARL and UTRC).

Ferroelectrics
We are developing multi-component ferroic materials for charge storage (capacitors) and tunable dielectrics for telecommunications.

Surface Chemistry and Interfaces
Our group is interested in understanding surface and interface structures and chemistry, important for a variety of applications in electrochemistry, catalysis, corrosion and self-healing surfaces for different environments.

Metallurgy
We are applying atomistic modelingto understand fundamental issues in metallurgy, that include point defects, precipitation hardening and solid solution strengthening (in collaboration with Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace).

Data-driven Materials Discovery
We are developing high-throughput screening methods to accelerate materials discovery and design materials with multifunctional properties.
